Here I Come Again... BMC Software
I’m back…. in BMC Software (Ticker: BMC) that is... My average cost is currently $45.60. I’m starting to feel more confident that a deal will materialize. Bloomberg recently reported that a PE group bid $48 for the company and yesterday Reuters reported that the PE groups offered $45 - $50 with Bain Capital / Golden Gate Capital taking the lead. I’m looking for a price $48 to $50 with a good chance that $50 gets this deal done. We’ll likely hear something over the weekend. It’ll be hard for the board to say no when there are compelling offers in the high 4’s plus on the table.

MT,
In case you have not read the weekend news on BMC Software, Bloomberg, Reuters, and NYT have all reported similar stories of a pending deal that is close with no exact takeout price but indicating around $46 (Reuters) and under $48 (Bloomberg). The WSJ has a headline reporting the deal is done. One needs a WSJ subscription to read the exact details.
Lets hope we have a more pleasant surprise when an official announcement is made.

I subscribe to the Journal and it doesn't mention any specifics in terms of price. Just that it's pretty much a done deal. Hey, you can't win them all...
MT,
Thank You for checking the WSJ. Yes we know, its a little like baseball.
All sources mention nearing more than $6.5b which is most likely market cap. The reuters exclusive article from 5/05/13 10:24PM specifically states $6.55b which I calculate out to be approx. $45.88 based on the latest quarters numbers.

MT,
We have a new future potential merger or LBO candidate. Add this company ICUI to your list for future reference if you wish. Do you have any opinion on the company, possible strategic competitor (good fits) and its medical instruments and supplies space?

I saw the news on ICUI. Obvious names that come to mind are Baxter and BDX. This is also the type of company that would attract PE firms. Definitely one to keep an eye on...
